Circles

PI circumference / diameter

radius the length from the midpoint of a circle to the edge. It is half the diameter

diameter A chord that goes through the center of the circle

Chord A line segment whose endpoints are on the edge of a circle

Circumference The distance around the circle. pi * diameter

Area of a circle The area inside a circle pi * radius ^2

Volume The amount inside the shape. Area of the base * the height

Volume of a cylinder pi*radius^2*height

Mean The average of the numbers

Median The middle of the numbers after they are put in order from least to greatest

Mode The number most shown

MAD The mean absolute deviation ;the average of the distance the data is away from the mean

Module 5 Operations with decimals

__Quotient__divide

__Multiply with decimals__Multiply like always

then count how many digits are to the right of the decimal.

Your product (answer) needs to have that many digits to the right of the decimal

__Divide with decimals__Multiply by some power of ten to make the divisor (outside number) a whole number

Module 4 Operation With Fractions

__Denominator__The bottom of a fraction. The number you are dividing by. 'outside the house'. Divisor.

__Numerator__The top of the fraction. The number being separated into parts. "inside the house" Dividend

__Mixed Number__- A number made of an integer (not zero) + a fraction (not with the denominator 1 or zero)

__Order of operations -__Pemdas. Parenthesis, exponents, (multiplication and division from left to right), (addition and subtraction from left to right)

__Multiply fractions__- Multiply straight across Multiply numerators, multiply denominators

Reduce before or after you multiply by dividing the numerators and denominators by the gcf

__Divide Fraction__- Multiply the first fraction with the second fractions reciprocal

__Reciprocal__- Flip the fraction. It is the multiplicative inverse.

__Mixed number to improper fraction__- multiply the whole number and the denominator, then add the numerator, keep the denominator.

__Operations with mixed numbers__- Change to improper fractions then follow the rules above.

__Add or subtract fractions__- You must have the same denominator. Add or subtract the numerators. Keep the denominator.

Module 3 Rational Numbers

__Dividend-__‐ The number to be divided. Numerator in a fraction. 'In the house.'

__Divisor-‐__The number you are dividing by. Denominator in a fraction. 'Outside the house" Number of groups you want.

__Fraction__-‐A number in the form a/b where b doesn't equal 0. A division problem that is not done.

__Rational Number-‐__A number that can be written as a fraction made of integers. All whole numbers and/or integers have the denominator 1 in fraction form therefore all whole numbers and/or integers are rational.

__Rational decimal__- A number whose decimal form will repeat or terminate.

__Irrational numbers__- A number that can not be written as a fraction made of integers. a decimal that doesn't end or repeat

__Venn Diagram-‐__A diagram that is used to show relationships between sets.

Module 2

Factors and Multiples

__Area__The number of square units needed to cover a given surface.

__Factor__A number that is multiplied by another number to get a product.

__Multiple__The product of a number and any nonzero whole number.

__Product__The result when two or more numbers are multiplied.

__Greatest Common Factor (GCF)__The largest common factor of two or more given numbers. The GCF will be smaller or equal to the numbers given.

__Least Common Multiple (LCM)__The first multiple the numbers have in common other than zero. The LCM will be larger or equal to the numbers given.

**Module 1**

__Absolute Value__: The distance of a number from zero. It is represented by | |

__Inequality:__A mathematical sentence that shows the relationship between quantities that are not equal. <is less than, > is greater than.

__Integers:__The set of whole numbers and their opposites

__Opposites__: Two numbers that are an equal distance and opposite sides from zero on the number line.

__Positive Number:__A number greater than zero.

__Negative Number:__A number less than zero.

__Number line direction__The further left a number is on a number line the smaller it's value. The further right a number is on the number line the greater it's value.
